It is our aim to make your stay a comfortable one and we would like you to treat the Dog House as a home away from home.

It is not often that people ask to be in the Dog House, but many of our guests do just that regularly! We aim to offer you a combination of quality and friendly service from the Dog House team.

Relax

Relax in our large garden and enjoy the peace and quiet of the restful surroundings and the beauty of the countryside whether you're our guest for a brief visit or for a longer stay.

The name of the hotel has rather an unusual origin. In days gone by, wealthy farming gentry sent their offspring to be educated in Oxford and would arrive there complete with their horses and hunting dogs. The Colleges allowed their students to stable horses but not the dogs! Alas, with nowhere else to house the animals, the proprietor of the local inn offered an invaluable 'dog sitting' service and the venue became known as the Dog House. In recent times, it has still been requested that we provide a dog sitting service!

Accommodation

These days we have 20 comfortable en suite bedrooms including 2 feature rooms. The rooms are appointed with colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing boards. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more pleasant, please ask any one of the Dog House team. Read More...

Food and Drink

Enjoy a drink in the Old English style beamed ceiling bar, in front of a roaring log fire or on the patio. Then dine in the Restaurant or our Conservatory where every attention to detail is taken. As you would expect we pride ourselves on good food, ranging from light bar meals to our substantial main menu. You can be sure of the highest standards of service.

Our Restaurant is served by our talented Head Chef and his team. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know in advance and we will be happy to attend to them.

Our wines include traditional old wines through to the new world style, so whether you're a serious wine buff or you simply enjoy a glass of what you fancy, we feel confident we can offer you the perfect accompaniment to our food menu.
